| Hi All, I've pretty much had Z stuff on the back burner for a few years. My last real Z related activity was this in Dec 2009: [ http://www.twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/general/view/2327999/Ferrari-Club-Toys-for-Tots-Run-2009-big-pics.html ] As mentioned in that post, at the end of the Toys for Tots run I had a serious knock going on. I drove the car home, parked it in the garage, turned it off, and that was all she wrote. Periodically over the past 19 months I would go out and tinker a bit. Drop the transmission, disconnect a few things, etc. Yesterday I finally rigged up the hoist and pulled the engine. My son is now 4 so he was out there for moral support:

Once I had the engine on the stand, flipped over, and oil pan off I started pulling rod caps. #1 off = good, #2 off = good, #5 off = good, #6 - wiggles.. hmm, that doesn't seem right. Pulled the cap. DEFINITELY not good. And spun 90 degrees.
Once I got the bearings loose and out, here's the result. All bad.
and the resulting damage to the crank:
Looks like I'll be giving everybody's buddy Kyle a call shortly. Glad to be back active in the community, at least for a while. Perhaps it will actually run again someday. The upside is I'm still under 50k miles :D
